Police identify two arrested individuals

According to the official version, those arrested are a 49-year-old woman with the initials V. C. and a 27-year-old man with the initials B. P. Their arrest was carried out by Crime Investigation specialists at Police Station No. 3.

Authorities have not provided further public details on the full course of the intervention or the specific circumstances in which they were detained after the protest.

What police claim happened during the protest

According to Tirana Police, during the gathering outside the Ministry of Education building, the two individuals are suspected of throwing hard objects toward the institution and setting trash bins on fire.

Police also say that these actions damaged public property and obstructed vehicle traffic on Durrës Road, one of the busiest stretches in Tirana.

One of the detainees also linked to a theft

Beyond the protest, police say that further checks showed the 27-year-old is also suspected of being the author of a theft that occurred on October 23 on “Abdi Toptani” street.

According to the preliminary investigation, he is accused of taking the cash box of a motor vehicle owned by a citizen with the initials Xh. C., with a claimed value of about 1,000 euros.

Charges referred to the prosecution

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecution for further action. The criminal offenses mentioned by police include “Destruction of Property by Fire,” “Opposition to a Public Order Police Officer,” “Organization of and Participation in Illegal Gatherings,” “Disturbing Public Order and Peace,” “Obstructing the Movement of Transport Vehicles,” and “Theft.”

At this stage, these remain claims by law enforcement authorities, and the full criminal assessment falls to the investigation and the Prosecution.

The incident once again draws attention to how protests are handled in the capital, especially when the police’s public account is focused on detentions and accusations, while the full elements of the clash on the ground remain unclear.
