A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Shkodër after, according to the police’s official account, four firearms and ammunition were found during a search of his home. The case is also being investigated to determine whether the weapons may have been used in other criminal incidents.
The operation and arrest
According to Shkodër Police, the arrest was carried out as part of an operation codenamed “Kalibri,” following what authorities described as the rapid processing of information obtained through operational channels.
The person arrested was identified by the initials R. M., 21, a resident of the village of Trush. At this stage, public details on the source of the weapons and the circumstances of their possession remain limited to the police statement.
What was seized in the home
During the search of the home, police said they seized an automatic firearm, a rifle, two hunting guns, as well as a considerable quantity of ammunition.
Authorities have not yet provided additional information on whether the weapons were registered or under what conditions they were kept, elements that are expected to be clarified by the investigation.
Weapons under examination
According to police, all of the seized weapons have been sent to the Institute of Scientific Police for further examination.
The purpose of the checks, according to the official version, is to determine whether these weapons were used in previous criminal incidents.
Case referred to the Prosecution
The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecution Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Shkodër.
The prosecution is expected to further clarify the full criminal qualification and the developments of the investigation, beyond the preliminary information made public by police.
At this stage, most of the information is based on the police’s official statement, while the investigation is expected to clarify the origin of the weapons, how they were obtained and whether they are linked to other criminal episodes.
