Fiery welcome at the airport

Salah appeared smiling at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, dressed in Trabzonspor’s claret and blue colors. Hundreds of supporters had gathered to welcome him in person, in an atmosphere that resembled a public presentation more than an ordinary arrival.

Footage shared by the club showed the forward greeting fans and joining in their traditional chants before heading off for the next procedures.

Club confirms negotiations, official announcement still pending

According to Trabzonspor’s statement, negotiations with Salah have already begun. Club president Ertugrul Dogan said the deal is expected to be completed with a presentation ceremony in the coastal city of Trabzon.

Although the fans’ reception and the club’s communication have brought the official announcement very close, the deal still remains to be fully formalized. After arriving at the airport, Salah headed for medical examinations before traveling to Trabzon.

Direct message to the fans

In a video published by the club, Salah addressed supporters with the words: “Trabzon, are you ready? I can hear you. See you very soon.”

He then repeated the team’s slogan, making his connection with the new environment even clearer ahead of the official presentation.

After an era at Liverpool

His transfer comes after the end of his spell at Liverpool, where Salah spent nine seasons and became one of the club’s most important figures. In a Reds shirt, he played 442 matches and scored 257 goals, winning, among other honors, two Premier League titles and one Champions League.

The 2024-2025 season was among the best of his career, with 29 goals and 18 assists in the league. In the most recent season, however, his output dropped significantly, with seven goals and seven assists in 27 matches, while he also missed several major European fixtures.

Trabzonspor targets the biggest move of the transfer window

Trabzonspor finished last season in third place in the Turkish Super Lig and will play in the Europa League qualifying phase. For the club, signing Salah would represent one of the most high-profile moves of the summer in Turkish football.

Before this track emerged, Salah had also been linked with a possible move to Besiktas, but negotiations were not concluded because of financial demands and the issue of image rights.

His arrival in Turkey has raised expectations even further around what is expected to be one of the most talked-about transfers of the window.

For now, the final step remains the formalization of the agreement, which the Turkish club has indicated is close to completion.
