Eight officers of Fier Prison Police have been suspended from duty following the conflict in a cell in which Denis Brajovic, known as Denis Bajri, and another convicted inmate, Jurgen Zoto, were injured. The measure was taken after the case was reviewed by the Disciplinary Commission, while the actual responsibilities of the staff remain under investigation.
The suspension will remain in force until the investigation is completed
According to publicly released information, the suspension of the eight officers will remain in force until the investigative process is concluded. The decision was taken after a meeting of the Disciplinary Commission and a second review of the case.
The move once again raises questions about how security was managed inside the prison, as the suspended officers are reported to have been assigned to the two sectors linked to the incident.
Two convicted inmates were injured inside the cell
The conflict involved Denis Brajovic, also known by the surname Bajri, and Jurgen Zoto. Both were injured, but according to the reported information they are out of danger for their lives.
According to the version reported so far, the conflict was started by Jurgen Zoto, who struck Denis Bajri first. An official communication from the prison authorities is also expected on this episode.
Denis Brajovic is considered a high-risk individual and is accused by SPAK of the murder of Gjin Ndoj. Meanwhile, Jurgen Zoto is serving a sentence for violent theft and illegal possession of a firearm.
Who are the suspended officers
Suspended from duty are Chief Inspector G.B., shift supervisor in the internal regime, Inspector Sh.H., shift supervisor in the internal regime, as well as inspectors A.A., D.GJ., A.H., P.K., S.Ç. and A.S., all employees in basic-role positions.
Their suspension does not automatically constitute criminal responsibility, but it indicates that the incident is also being handled on the disciplinary level, beyond the criminal investigation being conducted by the justice authorities.
Movements outside the prison and hospital are also being verified
Parallel to the investigation into the fight in the cell, the Internal Control Service of the Prisons is also verifying another sensitive piece of information. It concerns reports that after the conflict, several armored vehicles remained outside the prison perimeter and near the hospital.
According to this information, supporters of Denis Brajovic and Jurgen Zoto may have been in the vehicles. So far there is no official confirmation of this element, while the Prosecution is investigating the criminal offenses of injury and abuse of office.
The case once again exposes security weaknesses in penitentiary institutions, especially when individuals considered high-risk are involved.
Beyond the administrative suspensions, the investigation is expected to clarify whether this was only a failure of supervision or whether there are deeper responsibilities within the prison system.
