At the 75th consecutive protest on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, participants repeated their demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the entire political class, while also accompanying the gathering with accusations over the way police, according to them, have responded to protesters.
Political demands remain the same
Once again, the same political line was voiced from the boulevard: the removal of the prime minister and the establishment of a technical government. Protesters said they have no intention of leaving the square, presenting the gathering as a continuation of daily pressure on those in power.
The protest message remained focused on rejecting the current political class and on the idea that the crisis cannot be resolved through the usual institutional mechanisms. This is a direct accusation against the government, but also against other political actors whom the protesters see as part of the same scheme.
Petition to embassies announced
During the gathering, the launch of a petition addressed to foreign embassies was announced, requesting monitoring of the development of the protests and police conduct. The initiative was presented by a protester, who invited citizens to sign the document.
According to the statement made at the protest, the request is linked to what the organizers consider a disproportionate police response to protesters. At this stage, these are claims raised at the gathering and not a position verified by the responsible institutions.
Diaspora expected to join the gathering
It was also announced from the boulevard that the diaspora is expected to join Friday’s protest. The announcement was presented as an effort to broaden participation and give the gathering a stronger public profile.
During the same appearance, the creation of the website “shqiperianukshitet.com” was also mentioned as part of the organization and communication of the coordinating group. No further details were given about the structure or how this initiative will function.
March through Tirana after speeches in front of the Prime Minister’s Office
After speeches delivered near the Prime Minister’s Office, protesters continued with a march through the streets of Tirana. The gathering ended around midnight with chants against politics.
The fact that the protest has entered its 75th day shows the organizers’ determination to keep pressure in the public space, while it remains to be seen whether this form of mobilization will produce a political effect beyond the symbolism of persistence in the square.
The latest protest ended without any change in its core demands: resignation, a technical government, and strong opposition to the way, according to protesters, the gatherings are being handled by police.
