Increased pressure on both sides of the border

Queues of vehicles have formed on both the Albanian and Greek sides of Qafe Bote, while travelers wait to complete border control procedures.

The increased movement is linked to tourists, holidaymakers and citizens traveling to Greece or returning to Albania at the peak of the summer season.

Around 10,000 movements in one day

According to sources from the border crossing point, around 10,000 Albanian and foreign citizens entered and exited in the last 24 hours.

According to the same information, the heavier traffic load was recorded on entry compared with exits.

Counters operating and on-the-ground limitations

On the Albanian side at Qafe Bote, four counters are operating, while on the Greek side there are two counters in operation.

This difference in capacity comes at a time when traffic is heavy, adding pressure to border processing times and travelers’ waiting times.

A crossing point that is often blocked during peak season

Qafe Bote remains one of the main routes of movement between Albania and Greece, especially during the summer when traffic increases significantly.

According to the official version, border authorities are working to manage the flow and speed up procedures, with the aim of avoiding long waits. However, the queues that have formed show that the on-the-ground pressure remains high.

For travelers passing through this point, the weekend is being marked by waiting times and slow movement, at a time when the border with Greece remains under constant seasonal pressure.
