Shooting in Shkodra Near Home: What Is Known About Vladimir Bruçi and the Earlier Conflict

Gunfire near the home in the Rus neighborhood

According to information reported so far, gunfire was recorded during the day in Shkodra’s Rus neighborhood, where Vladimir Bruçi was wounded.

The full circumstances of the wounding have not yet been made clear, while the incident brings renewed attention to an earlier conflict in which Bruçi had again been the target of violence.

The 2024 assault after a parking dispute

On June 3, 2024, in the same neighborhood, Vladimir Bruçi was assaulted with hard objects by six people after a conflict over a parking space.

That incident at the time showed that the clash had taken on serious proportions, while tension in the area had not subsided with the formal closure of court proceedings against some of those involved.

Decisions of the Shkodra Court

For the 2024 episode of violence, the Shkodra Court kept three people in prison.

Izmir Sakica was sentenced to four years in prison, a sentence that was reduced under abbreviated trial to two years and eight months. Samuel Troshani was sentenced to 16 months in prison, while Arlind Kajoshi was also sentenced to 16 months in prison.

The later escalation with weapons

About three months after the assault on Vladimir Bruçi, his son, Alban Bruçi, fired four times with a firearm at Arlind Kajoshi’s car.

Kajoshi was one of the people convicted for the violence against Vladimir Bruçi, showing that the conflict did not remain isolated to the initial incident, but continued with other serious acts.

Today’s wounding in Shkodra once again raises questions about the ability of institutions to curb known conflicts before they turn into a chain of violence.

So far, what is known is that this is a clash with clear precedents, in which Vladimir Bruçi’s name had also been involved earlier in serious incidents in the same area.
