A large fire front is advancing on Mount Cika, moving closer to the tourist village of Dhërmi. The situation appears worrying as the flames have not been limited only to the side from Dukat, but have also spread to the other side of the mountain, toward Dhërmi and Palasa.

Flames have been burning for two days in mountainous terrain
The fire started two days ago and has spread across a considerable area on the side of the mountain toward Dukat. Its spread across such terrain makes intervention more difficult and increases pressure on the surrounding residential and tourist areas.
The fire front also shifted toward Dhërmi and Palasa
The situation has worsened as the flames have also engulfed the other side of Mount Cika, which stretches toward Dhërmi and Palasa. This means the fire front has expanded, bringing the danger closer to one of the most frequented areas of the coastline.
Ground operation and aerial intervention
According to the official version, forces on the ground are continuing efforts to bring the fire fronts under control. Two “Air Tractor” aircraft, used for aerial intervention against the flames, have also been engaged in the operation.
However, the fact that the fire continues to advance even after two days shows that full control of the situation remains unclear.
The risk remains high as long as the active fire front is moving closer to Dhërmi and spreading in several directions across Mount Cika.
So far, the information made public points to an operation still underway, but not to the neutralization of the fire.
