CEC certifies Kosovo election results: Vetëvendosje wins 53 seats in parliament

Kosovo’s Central Election Commission has certified the results of the June 7 election, officially sealing the distribution of seats in parliament. According to the certified result, the Vetëvendosje Movement remains the leading force with 53 seats.

According to data certified by the CEC, Vetëvendosje received 47.13% of the vote, which translates into 53 seats in parliament.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo received 19.44% and 22 seats, while the Democratic League of Kosovo won 16.69% of the vote and 18 seats.

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo secured 6.74% of the vote, taking 7 seats in parliament.

Seats of other entities

In the distribution of seats, Serb List won nine seats, while the Turkish KDTP won two.

One seat each went to Vakat, IRDK, Nova Demokratska Stranka, Social Demokratka Unija, PSA, Jedinska Goranska Partia, the Liberal Egyptian Party, and the United Roma Party.

Changes within the AAK list

Within the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo camp, there were also changes in representation following the result.

According to the published information, Ardian Gjini, this party’s candidate for prime minister, and Daut Haradinaj, a candidate for MP, have withdrawn from their parliamentary mandates.

Following their withdrawal, the mandates pass to Bekë Berisha and Burim Ramadani.

With the certification of the result, the electoral process enters the phase of institutional formalization of the new composition of the Assembly of Kosovo.

The seat tally gives Vetëvendosje a parliamentary edge, while the other parties will have to position themselves for the next steps on the political scene.
