Two German tourists have been stranded in the Mount Çika area, near Qorre Peak, after sending out an SOS signal. According to the authorities’ preliminary version, it is suspected that one of them suffered an injury or health problem while moving through the difficult terrain, while there is still no full official confirmation of his condition.
The alarm was raised by the tourists themselves
The SOS signal was reported by the two German tourists who were in the mountainous Çika area, near Qorre Peak. After the alert was received, according to the authorities, a search-and-rescue operation was launched on the ground.
The case once again highlights the difficulty of interventions in remote mountain areas, where initial information usually remains partial and real-time verification is limited.
Police, ADZM and a nurse on the ground
According to the preliminary notice, members of the Delta Force special unit, Vlorë Police services, employees of the Protected Areas Administration, as well as a nurse, have been sent toward the area.
The authorities have not yet provided fuller details on the time of arrival, the specific conditions on the ground or the difficulties the operation is facing, while the intervention is reported to still be underway.
