Albania’s Supreme Court has decided not to accept Fatime Kryemadhi’s appeal against an interim decision by the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO), leaving in force the procedural course followed so far in the criminal case in which she is a defendant.

The decision was issued today by the Supreme Court, which stated that it does not accept the special appeal of defendant Fatime Kryemadhi against the interim decision dated 15.06.2026 of the Special First Instance Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime.
In essence, the objection was linked to the rejection of her request after she withdrew from her request for summary trial. With this decision, the attempt to bring the case under another judicial review filter at this stage was not accepted.

According to information from the proceedings, Fatime Kryemadhi had appealed GJKKO’s interim decision after her request was not accepted following her withdrawal from summary trial.
This development is procedural, but it directly affects how the defense will proceed at trial, in a case that has already entered an important phase for the defendants.
Main trial postponed until September
Meanwhile, the main trial against Fatime Kryemadhi, Ema Coku and Pirro Xhixho has been postponed until September.
The reason for the postponement is the suspension of hearings during August due to the court’s holiday break, a practice that delays procedural deadlines even in cases of public interest.

In this proceeding, separated from the case against Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi, SPAK has presented its sentencing request for the three defendants.
Next in the procedural order is the defense of the accused, who will present their position at the upcoming hearings.
The Supreme Court’s decision closes another procedural attempt at this stage of the case and leaves the focus on the main trial, which is expected to resume in September.
