A dangerous incident was recorded at an amusement park in New Mexico, where the cable of a bungee-style ride snapped while two teenagers were in the air. As a result, the capsule they were in slammed into a metal pole, causing panic among those present.
The incident on the “Southwest Slinger” attraction
The accident happened on the “Southwest Slinger” ride at Western Playland amusement park. After the cable snapped, the system stopped functioning and the capsule remained suspended in the air.
The situation became critical for several minutes, until emergency crews arrived at the scene to bring the two young people down safely.
The two young people were treated at the scene
According to the Sunland Park Fire Department, a boy and a girl were examined immediately after the incident by emergency teams.
They suffered minor injuries and, according to local authorities, refused to be transported to hospital after receiving first aid at the scene.
The ride was immediately taken out of service
Western Playland management confirmed the incident and said the attraction was shut down immediately as a precautionary measure.
According to the park’s statement, the ride will remain out of service until a full investigation is completed in cooperation with the authorities and the relevant parties.
