A day after the explosion and fire at a fireworks warehouse in Shkozet, local authorities say the situation has been brought under control, but not fully resolved. Fire service crews remain at the scene, while one of the personnel affected by smoke inhalation continues to be under doctors’ care.
Small hotspots still active in the area
According to the head of the Durres fire service, Shkëlqim Troplini, personnel are still deployed at the site because small hotspots have been identified inside the warehouse where the fire broke out and are being kept under monitoring.
This means the risk is not yet considered definitively over, even though the most critical phase of the response appears to have passed. The presence of teams on the ground shows that the situation remains delicate, especially when pyrotechnic materials are involved.
One firefighter remains in hospital
Of the personnel who suffered smoke inhalation during the operation, only one remains under doctors’ care. No further complications have been reported for the others.
The official version is that the firefighter receiving treatment is out of danger, while the work of teams on the ground continued even after the main flames were brought under control.
The cause of the fire remains without a full answer
As for the reasons that led to the explosion and fire, there is still no final conclusion. According to the authorities, an expert assessment is expected to determine the exact cause of the incident.
