A focused police operation in Tirana has targeted luxury vehicles, cars with darkened windows and people with criminal records. According to the official announcement, the checks also extended to armored vehicles, drivers suspected of illegal possession of weapons, and possible cases of narcotics possession.
What police say about the operation
The operation involved the Special Operational Force, the special “Shqiponja” Force, and Road Police services. According to police, the focus was on identifying illegal weapons possession, apprehending wanted persons, checking for drugs, and verifying vehicles with darkened windows beyond permitted limits.
The checks, according to the official version, also focused on vehicles with modifications that cause disturbing noise in the city, as well as armored vehicles moving through the capital.

Police say 61 luxury vehicles were checked and verified, while 82 citizens with criminal records in various fields were also verified.
The same tally states that darkened windows were removed from 11 luxury vehicles, while a total of 61 tinted windows were identified and removed, including cases involving the front windshield, in violation of the Road Code.
Escorts and further verification
According to police, 5 vehicles were escorted to the Tirana Local Police Directorate for further verification. One of them is reported to have been an armored vehicle.
Six citizens were also escorted. The statement says that during the checks, narcotic substances, baseball bats and metal rods were found, while one driver was also found to be drunk.
