Before the extradition court in London

Information made public by Westminster Magistrates Court shows that Gjovalin Troja appeared before the court for the purpose of extradition to Albania.

He had been declared internationally wanted by Interpol Tirana, while the arrest was carried out in the city of Stroke-on-Trent by the NCA National Extradition Unit.

Why Albanian justice is seeking him

According to the international arrest warrant read out in court, Troja is wanted on suspicion that, in cooperation with other persons, during the period from December 25, 2017 to January 10, 2018, he fraudulently took from citizen Y.K. a Benz E-Class vehicle without paying for it.

In the same official version, it is also alleged that, again through fraud, the sum of 5,000 euros was also obtained.

Released on conditional bail until the next hearing

The 49-year-old will follow the extradition procedure while conditionally free until the next hearing, scheduled for October 1.

The court has set a financial guarantee of 5,000 pounds sterling, as well as the wearing of a GPS electronic device for monitoring.

At this stage, the court in London is reviewing only the extradition request, while the allegations raised by the Albanian side remain part of the case file to be assessed as the judicial proceedings continue.
