A serious incident involving elements of extortion and threats has come to light in Vorë, where a 56-year-old man is suspected of demanding €300,000 from his cousin by leaving an envelope at the door of the house containing a threatening letter and a bullet inside. According to the investigative version, the suspect is Ardian Muka, an emigrant in Greece, who was arrested for coercion by means of threats and possession of ammunition.
The money demand and instructions in the letter
In the threatening letter, the 56-year-old is also suspected of having given clear instructions on where the money was to be left. According to the investigation, he demanded that the €300,000 be placed in a bag and left at the gas tank behind the house, warning that he would later give further instructions on moving the sum.
As a sign of pressure, a bullet was also left in the envelope. Investigators treated the case as a serious threat, not simply as an anonymous letter without consequences.
How the investigation was steered toward the suspected perpetrator
According to data collected by police, the letter gave away the suspected author through the manner of writing, the dialect and the detailed knowledge of the area. Officers from Police Station No. 7 in Tirana are believed to have concluded that it involved a person with strong ties to the Gërdec area.
In the contents of the letter, according to investigative sources, there were enough elements indicating familiarity with life in the village, which narrowed the leads. Even the attempt to hide traces by writing in capital letters was not enough to avoid identification.
Suspicions of a repeated episode
The case file indicates that this was not the first time. According to information that emerged during the investigation, the same extortion letter had also been left last summer at the door of the same relatives.
The relatives, who live in Italy and own a construction business, are said to have kept the first episode quiet. Only after the threat was repeated did the case take a fuller investigative path.
Alarm also over explosive threat
The matter became even more serious after, according to a police source cited in the media, the suspect also mentioned placing explosives at the home. This detail led to serious crimes investigators also being involved on the ground.
According to the same version, the suspected perpetrator inadvertently helped the investigation through mistakes in the letter. It remains for the evidence collected to be fully verified as the criminal proceedings continue.
The 56-year-old is now under accusation for coercion by means of threats and possession of ammunition. The case once again highlights that threats within the family circle, especially when accompanied by financial pressure and signals of violence, require an immediate response and a full investigation, not prolonged silence.
