The protest against the government has entered its 106th day, with demonstrators once again gathering in Skanderbeg Square and marching toward Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, where they delivered speeches in front of the Prime Minister’s Office. At the latest rally, calls were also made to escalate the action, including a boycott of schools and road blockades from the early hours of the morning.

Day 106 of protest outside the Prime Minister’s Office, calls for school boycott and road blockades

The rally continues for a 106th day

As on previous days, protesters gathered in central Tirana before continuing their march toward the Prime Minister’s Office building. Speeches were delivered there in harsh tones against the government, in a protest that has now stretched for more than three months.

The continuation of the rally places the government in front of publicly articulated discontent, although it remains unclear how much real support and mobilizing capacity the protest will have in the coming days.

Gathering time changes

Activist Arben Kola announced that starting tomorrow, the gathering in Skanderbeg Square will begin at 6:30 p.m. The schedule change was made public during the speeches delivered before the protesters.

In the same appearance, he also called on Albanians in the diaspora to join the anti-government rally.

Calls for the protest to begin as early as 07:00

During the rally, another protester called for the next action to begin at 07:00 on the morning of the 14th. According to the call made at the protest, the aim is to move the response earlier in the day and accompany it with road blockades.

These statements signal an attempt to make the protest more disruptive to public life, beyond the daily format of marching and speeches in front of institutions.

Appeal for a school boycott

The protest also featured a call for parents not to send their children to school, but to come out to the rally. This was one of the strongest statements made during the day, as it directly involves the education system in political action against the government.

At this stage, these are calls issued by participants in the protest and not any institutional decision or more broadly announced organization.

The rally on the 106th day took the protest out of its usual evening routine and pushed the debate toward stronger forms of pressure in the streets.

Whether these calls will translate into broader participation or remain momentary statements is expected to be tested in the action announced for the morning of the 14th.
