At the start of his remarks, Rama said he had been positively surprised by the interest of many representatives in what, according to him, is happening in Albania in relation to artificial intelligence.
He linked this debate to broader issues of security and public trust, raising concern that technology could be used to enter citizens’ minds and imitate a trusted voice.
The claim that Albania is a country that “has lived the future”
In the central part of his statement, the head of government said Albania is not a developer of the most advanced speech models, but added that our country is “a nation that has lived the future that others are still debating.”
The wording used by Rama remains more political and rhetorical than accompanied by concrete examples in this part of his speech.
The warning: the problem is the person who controls it
According to the version presented by Rama, the immediate danger is not that artificial intelligence will stop obeying humanity, but that it may obey “the wrong person.”
This was the essence of his message at the start of the speech, where he tried to place the debate not only on technological development, but on the political and human responsibility for its use.
Rama’s statement at the UN comes at a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly being used as a global political topic, but in this case the prime minister’s message remained within the bounds of a general warning, without going into concrete measures or detailed commitments from the Albanian side.
