The red-and-black flag has returned to the summit of Mount Korab, the highest point in Albania at 2,764 meters, following recent controversy over the appearance of a Macedonian symbol in the same place.

Action at the country’s highest peak
The return of the Albanian symbol was carried out by a group of Albanian students from Skopje and Tetovo, in cooperation with patriots from Dibra in Maqellara. The announcement was made public by Azgan Haklaj.
Korab lies on the border between Albania and North Macedonia, which has turned any symbolic intervention at that point into an issue that draws public reaction beyond an ordinary gesture.
What happened earlier
At the end of September, images published on social media showed that a Macedonian flag had appeared in the place where the Albanian symbol had previously been installed.
The case was also covered by media in North Macedonia, which reported on the replacement of symbols on the summit of Mount Korab.
The ambassador’s name is also mentioned
According to the statement of the group that took part in the action, there was also interest from Ambassador Denion Meidani.
The official page of the Albanian Embassy confirms that Denion Meidani holds the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Albania to North Macedonia.
Calls for verification
Earlier, the Albanian Federation of Mountaineering and Mountain Tourism had called for verification of the event and the identification of the persons responsible for removing the Albanian symbol.
So far, in the information made public, there does not appear to be an institutional clarification of how the previous symbol was removed and how the escalation of this situation was allowed at such a sensitive point.
The return of the red-and-black flag to Korab thus comes after an episode that prompted reactions on social media and calls for clarification.
The event remains tied not only to national symbolism, but also to the lack of a clear institutional response to what happened at the country’s highest peak.
