Pedro’s announcement on social media

The decision was made public by the 37-year-old himself through a message on social media platform X, where he indicated that his time on the pitch had come to an end.

“I feel the time has come. The time to take a step forward and begin a new phase in my life,” Pedro wrote in his public message.

An emotional farewell

In his reaction, the former Spanish forward also reflected on his personal journey, stressing that he had fulfilled his childhood dream.

“I leave proud to have lived my dream and of all the people who were by my side to make it a reality,” he said.

At the end of the message, Pedro also thanked football itself for the years and emotions it gave him: “Thank you, football, for making me so happy.”

From Barcelona to Chelsea and Serie A

Pedro began his professional career at Barcelona, where he became part of one of the most successful periods in the Catalan club’s history. In the team coached by Pep Guardiola, he quickly became one of the key elements in attack.

In 2015, he moved to Chelsea, where he continued to play at a high level and added more trophies in English football.

His career then continued in Italy, with Roma and Lazio.

Part of Spain’s golden generation

On the international stage, Pedro was part of one of the most successful generations Spain has ever had.

He won the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa and two years later was crowned European champion with Spain at Euro 2012.

Pedro Rodriguez’s retirement officially brings to a close a career linked to some of the biggest teams and greatest successes in European football in recent years.

At the age of 37, the Spaniard leaves the pitch with a record that places him among the standout names of his generation.
