A violent weather phenomenon struck the western coast of Sicily, where strong winds overturned vehicles, damaged buildings and caused panic in several areas of Marsala. The preliminary toll points to two people seriously injured, while injuries were also reported at a school.

Strike in Marsala and damage on the roads
The tornado hit the Marsala area in western Sicily, causing considerable material damage and chaos in traffic. According to reports, the strong winds overturned vehicles and damaged buildings near the coastline.
Images shared on social media show a large column of dust and debris moving along the coast, while various objects are lifted into the air by the force of the wind.
Two seriously injured after vehicle overturns
According to local media, two people were seriously injured after the vehicle they were traveling in was overturned into a stream by the force of the storm.
For now, there is still no complete picture of the extent of their injuries, while the toll remains under update by local authorities.
Injuries also reported at a school in Strasatti
The storm also hit the Alcide De Gasperi school in the Strasatti area, where, according to reports, several children were injured during class after the building was caught in a double vortex of wind.
According to the Italian newspaper La Sicilia, bookshelves fell and windows were shattered by the force of the wind, causing panic among students and staff. Emergency services intervened at the scene to assist the injured.
Preliminary reports indicate that none of those injured at the school are believed to be in life-threatening condition, although one boy was urgently taken to hospital.
Worsening weather across the region
For several hours, the region has been battered by storms and heavy rainfall, especially in the Trapani area and along the Tyrrhenian coast.
Damage has also been reported to other buildings, where the wind damaged roofs and scattered debris through the streets. According to authorities, the full assessment of the consequences is still ongoing.
Photos and videos published from the area show vehicles completely overturned and thick clouds of dust covering the coast, in a severe episode of extreme weather that struck Sicily.
