Tensions at Parliament: Police Pushed Back, Protesters Try to Enter Building

Police lose ground on Parliament perimeter

According to reports from the scene, after clashes on the Boulevard, officers were pushed back and protesters gained ground in the direction of the Presidency of Parliament building.

The withdrawal of law enforcement forces from such a sensitive area in central Tirana makes the fragility of control even more visible at a moment of high tension.

Protesters move close to the building entrance

In the latest developments, protesters are trying to enter the Presidency of Parliament building.

They are also reported to have torn out a road sign and are trying to break through the building’s door.

The Prime Minister’s Office also left without a police perimeter

On the other side, the Prime Minister’s Office building is also, for the moment, without police protection, after law enforcement forces chose to pull back.

This development raises further questions about how the situation is being managed at the country’s most important state institutions, at a time when tensions on the ground are dictating the pace of events.

Up to this moment, the situation in the center remains unstable, with protesters bringing physical pressure close to the institutions and police no longer holding the same position on the perimeter.

There is still no further official information on any change in the situation at the entrances to the institutions.
