FNSH movements after the clash near the Prime Minister’s Office
At the height of the tensions with protesters, Rapid Intervention forces arrived near the Prime Minister’s Office.
The presence of the FNSH signals an escalation of the situation on the ground, while there is still no detailed official version on how the intervention was carried out and the specific reasons for it.
The intervention extended to a cafe near the Pyramid
According to reports from the scene, officers also entered a cafe near the Pyramid.
There, according to the same reporting, an attempt was made to escort a protester, in an episode that raises questions about how police forces acted in a civilian setting frequented by citizens.
Customers prevented the escort
The attempt to remove the protester was not carried out immediately.
According to reporting from the scene, it was the customers inside the cafe who intervened and prevented his escort.
At this stage, there has been no public clarification from the authorities on the full circumstances of the incident, the identity of the person whom officers tried to escort, or the legal basis for the intervention inside the cafe.
Footage and reporting from the scene show a tense situation in central Tirana, where the clash between protesters and police appears to have gone beyond the protest area itself.
