The student protest continued for the ninth consecutive day, maintaining pressure on the government and showing that the official offer for dialogue is not being accepted by the organizers. Lecturers again joined the gathering, and while much of the day remained relatively calm, the evening brought tensions outside the Prime Minister’s Office.

Day 9 of the student protest, tensions at the Prime Minister’s Office and warning for Parliament

Lecturers again joined the gathering

The gathering began with students and lecturers assembling outside the Prime Minister’s Office, continuing a protest that has now moved beyond an isolated student reaction.

The participation of lecturers and other citizens shows that the protest is maintaining public support, while the demands directed at the government remain unresolved and dissatisfaction has not been eased by official communication.

The offer for dialogue rejected once again

This Wednesday as well, the call for dialogue made by Edi Rama was not accepted. As a sign of opposition, protesters removed and threw away the chairs placed in the square.

This gesture was read as a clear rejection of the way the government has tried to present the solution, without convincing protesters that there is a real response to the concerns they have raised.

Class boycott in several cities, no incidents for hours

Classes were boycotted in Korça and partially in Tirana and Korça. During most of the day, no incidents were reported.

Until around 16:00, the protest unfolded without clashes, both on the part of the protesters and the police, unlike episodes on previous days.

Calm broken in the evening outside the Prime Minister’s Office

After around three and a half hours without incidents, at around 18:00 the situation became tense. Protesters burned a chair and threw several Molotov cocktails toward the Prime Minister’s Office building.

The incident marked the only serious turn of the evening, after a day that until then had been characterized by relative calm. At the same time, the students also warned of a gathering outside Parliament, signaling that the protest is seeking to shift pressure onto the legislative institution as well.

The repeated rejection of dialogue and the shift from a peaceful protest to evening tensions show that the confrontation between the students and the government remains open.

Beyond official versions about calm or management of the situation, the political core remains unchanged: the protest has not died out and distrust toward the government continues to dominate the square.
