Day Eight of the Protest: Boycott at Universities, Students and Lecturers Again Gather Outside the Prime Minister’s Office

New gathering outside the Prime Minister’s Office

As on the previous day, lecturers joined students at the gathering outside the Prime Minister’s office. Their presence turns the protest into a broader reaction than the initial student dissatisfaction.

The repeated gathering outside the executive’s main institution places political pressure directly on the government, at a moment when there appears to be no real movement toward a communication channel acceptable to the parties.

No contact for dialogue was achieved

Once again, there was no positive response to the request for dialogue with Edi Rama. According to developments on the ground, the situation remained unresolved and without a concrete step from the government.

As a sign of revolt, protesters removed and threw away the chairs placed in the square, a gesture that reflected distrust over how their request for communication is being handled.

Boycott of classes at several universities

In parallel with the protest, classes were boycotted in Korça and partially in Tirana. This shows that the reaction is not remaining only at the level of symbolic gatherings, but is also affecting the normal functioning of universities.

The involvement of several cities and of lecturers suggests that the dissatisfaction is maintaining its pace even after several days of protest, while institutions have still not provided a convincing way out.

The protest enters a phase of open pressure

The fact that the protest has reached its eighth day and is drawing in other citizens as well shows that the situation is not fading on its own. In the absence of a clear institutional response, the tension between the demand for dialogue and official silence remains open.

For the moment, the main development remains the continuation of mobilization on the ground and the expansion of the boycott at universities, while the government has still not produced a solution that would reduce the confrontation.

Wednesday’s protest confirmed that the deadlock between students, lecturers and the government remains unresolved.

With the boycott at universities and the repeated presence outside the Prime Minister’s Office, public pressure is continuing without yet receiving a convincing political response.
