Tensions Near Parliament: Protesters Knock Down Police Barrier, Clash With FNSH

March from the Polytechnic University toward Parliament

The group of protesters, identified as lecturers, set off from the Polytechnic University and moved toward a shopping center near Parliament. At that moment, the plenary session was under way in Parliament.

Their movement toward the security zone brought the protest to a point of direct confrontation with the measures put in place by police around the institution’s perimeter.

The metal barrier was knocked down on the front line of the confrontation

Near Parliament, protesters first encountered the metal barrier set up by police. The obstacle was brought down, immediately increasing tensions on the ground.

Footage and developments from the scene show an escalation of the situation in an area that had been secured in advance by law enforcement forces.

Confrontation with FNSH officers

Behind the metal barrier were FNSH officers, positioned a few meters farther back. It was precisely along this second security line that the confrontation between protesters and law enforcement was recorded.

The presence of FNSH on the ground indicates that authorities had set up a fortified security scheme around Parliament, while the response at the scene remained focused on holding the perimeter.

Session ended, police issued warnings by megaphone

In the moments after the tensions, the plenary session had ended. A water cannon vehicle was also stationed near the protesters, while police warned them several times by megaphone.

Up to that point, the situation remained tense in the area near Parliament, with an increased police presence and equipment deployed for crowd control.

The incident once again exposed the way protests are managed near central institutions, where physical barriers and special forces are deployed ahead of any escalation.

Beyond the official version of the security measures, developments on the ground showed an open confrontation between protesters and police in one of the capital’s most sensitive areas.
