The Democratic Party branch in Fier has emerged with a new leader after a race that was decided by just four votes. At the end of the count, Enkelejda Veliu was declared the winner over Ardian Ferro, in a process that highlighted the closeness of the contest more than any clear political advantage.

The result was decided at the end, with only a 4-vote gap
According to the counted result, Enkelejda Veliu received 196 votes, while Ardian Ferro received 192. The minimal difference makes this one of the closest branch-level races, leaving little room to read the result as an uncontested political mandate.
With this result, Veliu takes over leadership of the PD branch in Fier after a contest in which the two main candidates remained virtually neck and neck until the end.
Five candidates were in the race, but the real contest remained between two names
Five candidates took part in the race for head of the local PD branch. However, according to the data published from the process, the real contest was concentrated around the two candidates who finished at the top, Veliu and Ferro.
The narrow result between them points to a strong split in the vote within the active membership that took part in the process.
Turnout raises questions about the real weight of the mandate
According to the figures made public, 836 Democrats took part in the vote out of 3,800 members eligible to vote. This means turnout was clearly lower than the total body of registered members.
In this context, although the process produced a winner, the turnout figures open a debate over real representation and the political strength that emerges from this vote within the Fier branch.
Celebrations began immediately after the counting ended
After the count was completed, Enkelejda Veliu celebrated with her supporters. The immediate reaction after the result was announced reflected the tension of a race decided on fine margins.
Politically, her challenge begins exactly where the voting ended: managing a branch that emerged from the election with a narrow result and limited participation compared with the total number of members.
The result in Fier gives Enkelejda Veliu leadership of the PD branch, but also a mandate that comes with a fragile political balance.
A four-vote difference and the reported turnout make this race more of a signal of internal divisions than a deep electoral victory.
