An incident inside the Sarandë Police Station has raised questions about how security was managed in the isolation rooms. According to police, a 22-year-old man under arrest created tension while returning from the toilet and clashed with officers in the corridor.

The incident was reported after midnight
According to the reported information, the incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday inside the Sarandë police station. The detainee has been identified as Devis Saliaj, 22.
The version made public says the young man asked to be escorted to the toilet, and the incident erupted as he was being taken back to the isolation room.
Official claim: he resisted police officers and threw objects into the corridor
According to the account of the incident, the 22-year-old resisted police officers and struck them while being escorted. It is also said that he threw objects that were in the corridor, escalating the situation inside the police station premises.
At this point, according to the same version, other detainees also became involved in an attempt to calm him down. Additional police forces then intervened, bringing him under control and placing him back in isolation.
Previously arrested in Operation “Vjeshta”
Devis Saliaj had previously been arrested as part of the operation codenamed “Vjeshta.” He is reported to be a resident of Tirana, while during the summer season he had been staying in a rented apartment in Sarandë.
According to police, the 22-year-old also has prior criminal records and has been arrested two other times in the capital.
What was found in the rented apartment
During a search of the apartment where he was staying in Sarandë, police say they found and seized a firearm, a pistol with a grinder.
At this stage, the public information remains based on the official version of events, while no further details have been made public about the specific circumstances of the incident inside the police station.
The incident brings renewed attention to security and the management of detainees in police facilities, especially when such incidents happen not in the street, but inside the institutions themselves that claim full control of the situation.
For now, there is no further public information on whether anyone was injured in the clash or whether new charges will be added against the 22-year-old.
