Urgent meeting between police and services

According to Polish authorities, the security structures were activated immediately after receiving information about a possible threat against the two senior state officials.

Representatives of the police, the State Protection Service and the Internal Security Agency took part in an extraordinary meeting, in coordination that shows the case is being handled at the highest levels of security.

What officials have said so far

The initial announcement was made public by Interior Ministry spokeswoman Karolina Gałecka, who said police had received information about a possible threat against Donald Tusk and Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Meanwhile, special services spokesman Jacek Dobrzyński said the institutions are treating the matter with the utmost seriousness. According to the official version, there is a high probability that the threats could be carried out.

High alarm, few public details

Despite the high-alert tone, authorities have still not provided details on the nature of the threat, the source of the information beyond the institutional chain, or whether any individuals have been identified as suspects.

It is only known that the information was passed to police by the State Protection Service, the institution responsible for protecting senior officials in Poland. This still leaves open the question of how concrete the risk is and at what stage the investigation stands.

Tense security climate in Poland

This development comes at a sensitive moment for Poland, where several episodes of violence in schools have been reported over the past week and where authorities have also raised the alarm over hybrid attacks.

In September, Donald Tusk had warned of a possible intensification of Russian hybrid attacks on NATO’s eastern flank, claiming that countries supporting Ukraine, including Poland, could be targeted. Moscow has denied these claims.

Repeated threats against politicians

The latest case is not seen as an isolated episode. In August, Polish police detained a 23-year-old suspected of inciting the killing of the country’s senior politicians.

As for the current threat, investigations are continuing, but there is no additional public information on possible perpetrators, motives or the real level of danger.

For now, what is officially known is that Poland’s security apparatus has been placed on high alert because of a threat that authorities consider serious.

However, the lack of public details keeps the incident on the boundary between a real alarm and information that remains not yet fully confirmed.
