Parliament session after protests opens with clashes: PD blocks podium, tension with Balla

The session began in a heated climate

The parliamentary sitting took place in a politically and socially charged atmosphere following the latest developments on the ground. From the opening, it was clear that the confrontation between the sides would dominate the agenda.

Immediately after Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi read out the agenda, the situation in the chamber grew tense and the session took a confrontational turn.

PD blocked the podium

Democratic Party deputies blocked the podium, turning the start of the session into an open procedural and political clash. The opposition’s move came at a moment when the normal continuation of parliamentary proceedings had been expected.

This development once again highlighted the crisis in the functioning of the sessions, where physical confrontation and the blocking of proceedings are replacing institutional debate.

Tension near Balla, Flamur Noka involved

When Socialist Party parliamentary group leader Taulant Balla took the floor, PD deputies approached his seat. At that moment, according to what was reported from the chamber, Flamur Noka pushed Balla and pulled away his microphone.

Footage from the session shows that the tension did not remain only at a verbal level, but also extended into direct contact between deputies, further deepening the chaos in Parliament.

Parliament returns amid political crisis

This was the first plenary session after the latest protests, which made expectations for an orderly institutional proceeding even more sensitive. Instead, Parliament’s return was accompanied by scenes of tension that raise serious questions about the normal functioning of parliamentary life.

Against such a backdrop, it remains clear that the political crisis is not being confined outside institutions, but is being transferred directly inside the parliamentary chamber as well.

Today’s session showed that the clash between the majority and the opposition remains at its hottest point, as Parliament enters its work under the shadow of protests and open political conflict.

Instead of a parliamentary debate on the issues of the day, attention focused on the blocking of the podium and the incident near Taulant Balla’s seat.
