The clash between the government and lecturers is continuing on social media as well, where Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again chosen irony instead of a political response to the substance of the objections.

In his latest reaction, he published footage from the gathering outside the Prime Minister’s Office, focusing on the movement of the concrete “benches” placed in front of the building.

Rama’s reaction on social media

According to the version published by the prime minister himself, over three days of virtual communication with the lecturers, his response has remained almost the same in the face of their refusal of dialogue.

Rama shared on social media fragments from the lecturers’ gathering outside the Prime Minister’s Office, shifting attention to the images and symbolism of the protest rather than to the demands raised by his opponents.

Footage of the concrete “benches”

In the video he published, several people can be seen moving the concrete “benches” that had been placed in front of the office of the head of government.

Earlier, he had also posted footage of chairs being destroyed during the gathering, presenting the conflict in a frame that serves the public clash with the lecturers.

Irony toward the lecturers

The prime minister again referred to the protesters ironically, calling them “lecturers” in quotation marks.

At the end of the sentence he published, he also placed the image of a clown, a choice that takes official communication into mocking territory instead of institutional clarification for a conflict that affects universities and the government’s relationship with them.

So far, the public reaction of the head of government has remained focused on irony and on images from the protest, while the clash with the lecturers continues without a concrete sign of the sides drawing closer.
