A 21-year-old Albanian man is under investigation in Italy on suspicion of sexual violence, following a complaint filed by an 18-year-old German woman who was vacationing in the Rimini area. At this stage, there are conflicting versions of events and an investigation that is still open, as Italian authorities seek to reconstruct what happened.

Rimini: 21-year-old Albanian under investigation after complaint by 18-year-old German tourist

The 18-year-old’s complaint and the account given to police

According to Italian media, the young woman was on the Riviera with two friends, all from Germany and all the same age, during the first weekend of July.

According to those reports, she had met the 21-year-old Albanian, who has lived in Italy for years, and on Sunday, July 5, they had arranged to meet at a nightclub in Rimini.

According to the girl’s testimony, after spending several hours at the venue and consuming alcohol, the group later moved to the beach. There, according to the complaint she filed, she went away from the others with the 21-year-old and was then forced to have sexual intercourse against her will.

The complaint was filed a day later

The 18-year-old said she had tried to resist, but according to her account, the young man overpowered her physically and took advantage of her state of intoxication.

According to material published by Italian media, she went to the police station in Rimini a day after the incident and filed a formal complaint. It was on the basis of that complaint that criminal proceedings against the young man were initiated.

The young man denies the allegations, prosecutors seek further verification

The 21-year-old, defended by lawyer Massimiliano Orrù, has denied the allegations and claims that there was only kissing between them and that any closeness was consensual.

His lawyer said his client considers the accusations unfounded and has also handed over his underwear to the authorities for the relevant analysis. At this point, the parties’ claims remain in direct conflict and are expected to be weighed through investigative evidence.

The case will move to an evidentiary hearing

Because of the complexity of the case, according to reports from Italy, the Rimini prosecutor’s office has asked the judge to hold an evidentiary hearing. This procedural step is intended to preserve and verify evidence, as well as help reconstruct the events of the evening as accurately as possible.

Investigators are gathering testimony and other evidentiary elements to understand what really happened. Until the investigation reaches an official conclusion, the case remains under review by the Italian justice system.

Second case in just a few days in the same area

Italian media report that this is the second reported case of sexual violence in the Rimini area within a matter of days.

Earlier, another investigation had also become public, in which a 23-year-old woman reported that she had been assaulted during the weekend of the “Notte Rosa” event on the Italian coast. In both cases, authorities say the investigations are ongoing.

The Rimini case remains open and without a judicial conclusion, while the two sides’ versions directly clash.

Under these circumstances, the weight of the evidence is expected to be decisive in clarifying whether the complaint will lead to formal charges or to the claims being dismissed.
