The rift between Alvarez and Atletico is becoming public
The relationship between Julian Alvarez and Atletico Madrid appears to be at its most difficult point, with any return to normality looking increasingly unlikely. Not every expensive dream turned into success
The list does not end there. Samuel Eto’o was involved in a tense operation between several clubs before moving to Barcelona, while Javier Mascherano pushed his departure from Liverpool to the point that he even paid part of the transfer fee out of his own pocket.
But precedent does not guarantee a happy ending. Barcelona’s own history shows that some of these high-profile transfers, although achieved through heavy pressure and large sums, did not always produce what was expected on the pitch. That makes Alvarez’s gamble at the end of the transfer window even less clear.
