The wildfire situation remains worrying in several parts of the country, while the balance reported by the Ministry of Defense shows 45 outbreaks in just 24 hours. According to the official version, 12 of them remain active and another has been placed under monitoring, showing that pressure on the ground and on emergency structures has not eased.
The balance reported by institutions
The Ministry of Defense said that 72 firefighting vehicles and 839 operational personnel have been engaged in operations to tackle the fires. Support has also included 250 members of the Armed Forces, 5 helicopters and 2 Air Force “Air Tractor” aircraft.
At present, according to the same statement, 167 Armed Forces personnel, 3 helicopters and 2 “Air Tractor” aircraft continue to operate on the ground. The priority declared by civil protection structures remains the protection of lives, homes and populated areas.
Dajti and Priska among the most sensitive areas
In Dajt, near the Selita water plant and above the Qafë-Molla tunnels, efforts continue to extinguish a blaze in a pine forest. Firefighting forces and protected areas staff have been deployed in the operation, supported by two Air Force helicopters.
Likewise, in Priskë e Madhe, the fire has spread in the direction of Gurra, Farka and Lundra. According to authorities, work on the ground and aerial intervention are continuing to bring the situation under control.
Active outbreaks from Krujë to Përmet
In Krujë, the fire in the Abaze neighborhood remains active and the operation is being supported by the Armed Forces and aerial assets. According to official data, 57 Armed Forces personnel have been deployed on the ground, while efforts have focused on protecting populated areas. In Krastë and Halil, other local and military forces are also operating.
In Përmet, work continues on two fire outbreaks, on Mount Nëmërçka above Biovizhdë and on Mount Dhëmbel above Badilonjë. Authorities say the difficult mountainous terrain makes intervention more complicated, although no risk to homes has been reported so far.
Patos-Mallakastër, Dibër, Mirditë and Vau i Dejës
In the Drenie-Lofkend-Ngracije area, on the Patos-Mallakastër axis, the operation is continuing with firefighters, local structures and support from the Armed Forces. Firefighting vehicles, local personnel and municipal forces are also on the ground.
A large-scale operation is also under way in Gurë-Lurë in the municipality of Dibër, involving several ground structures, the State Police, the forest service, civil emergencies, volunteers and support from two “Air Tractor” aircraft. Active outbreaks are also reported in Mirditë, while in Vau i Dejës work is under way to extinguish a fire in a pine forest.
Other areas under intervention and monitoring
On Mount Morava, in the municipality of Devoll, work continues in an area of pine forest, while according to the official report there is no risk to populated areas. Likewise, in Kurbin, the outbreak in Vilëz has been moved to monitoring after ground and aerial intervention.
Civil emergency institutions say coordination is continuing across several counties at once. However, the spread of outbreaks across so many areas within such a short period keeps the situation far from normalized, despite the large number of forces engaged.
The balance of the last 24 hours shows a wide spread of fires and a strong reliance on combined intervention from the ground and the air.
Beyond official statements about the situation being under control at some points, the fact that 12 outbreaks remain active in different counties keeps the alarm raised.
