The 94th consecutive protest against the government in Tirana was once again accompanied by tensions, as clashes between protesters and police were recorded near the Prime Minister’s Office. According to the official version, the intervention came after a group of demonstrators tried to advance toward the building.
Two flashpoints near the Prime Minister’s Office building
The gathering unfolded on two fronts. One part of the protesters remained in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, where speeches and chants against the government continued.
The hottest point shifted near a rear entrance of the building, where another group of protesters tried to push forward toward the Prime Minister’s Office premises. It was there that the strongest clashes on the ground were recorded.
Police used force and tear gas
According to reports from the scene, police had set up multiple cordons and sealed off the area to block the movement of protesters.
After repeated warnings over a megaphone, officers intervened to push the protesters back. Tear gas was then also used, further increasing tensions around the government building.
Political demands remain the same
In the central part of the gathering, in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, political speeches continued while the atmosphere remained charged.
Protesters are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, a change of the political class and the establishment of a transitional government.
The mobilization enters its 94th day
Today’s protest marks the 94th day of continuous mobilization against the government.
The repeated clashes and the use of tear gas once again raise questions about the management of public gatherings and the proportionality of the police response in central Tirana.
At the reported moments, the situation remained tense both in front of the Prime Minister’s Office and near the rear entrance of the building.
