Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted following statements by German authorities that Russia was behind the drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport, calling the incident an act of Russian aggression against Germany and against Europe’s security.
Rama’s reaction after the official German version
In a Facebook post, Rama openly aligned himself with Berlin’s position after the German government made public its assessment that Moscow was behind the incident.
He wrote that a drone carrying explosive material toward Leipzig/Halle Airport “leaves no room for ambiguity” and that, according to the German government, it was an act of Russian aggression against Germany and against Europe’s security.
Solidarity with the German government
The head of the Albanian government expressed solidarity with Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the German government, and the German people.
In his reaction, Rama also backed Berlin’s hard line on the incident, stressing that in the face of what he described as hybrid warfare, there is no room for hesitation.
Political message for NATO and Ukraine
Rama also declared that Albania stands alongside Germany, Ukraine, and its allies in NATO.
His message emphasized the unity of allied countries at a moment when, according to the official German version, the drone attack directly raises issues of European security.
Rama’s statement came after German authorities attributed the attack to Russia, an accusation carrying major political and military weight in the current security climate on the continent.
At this stage, Tirana’s reaction remains fully in line with the position of Berlin and its Western allies.
