The ruling against the former KLA leaders has prompted an immediate reaction in Kosovo politics. Jashari called on the Assembly speaker to immediately convene an extraordinary session, arguing that the response must take institutional form following the ruling delivered on Tuesday.
According to her statement, lawmakers are expected to return from The Hague to begin discussions in the Assembly and to examine the steps that could be taken politically and institutionally.
PDK seeks procedures to dismantle the Special Court
The PDK lawmaker said her party will pursue all avenues it considers possible to oppose the existence of the Special Court.
According to her, procedures for dismantling this court should begin as quickly as possible, a demand that comes at a sensitive political and legal moment for Kosovo.
Political accusations against the court
In her position, Jashari claims that the Special Court has not acted fairly and described it as political.
This is a political position articulated by PDK after the ruling, while the issue of the functioning and legitimacy of this court remains a strong debate on Kosovo’s public and institutional scene.
Call also for a resolution
In addition to the extraordinary session, Jashari also called for the drafting of a resolution in the Assembly.
According to her, through this document the aim would be to send a message to the international community that the KLA should not be condemned in the name of the Albanian people, as part of a broader political reaction to the ruling.
The statements by the PDK lawmaker shift the debate from the courtroom to the political confrontation in Pristina, where it remains to be seen whether there will be a majority for an extraordinary session and for the steps being sought against the Special Court.
