Another meeting of the National Security Council is expected to be called over the issue related to former SHISH director Vlora Hyseni. This was announced by the chairman of the parliamentary Security Committee, Bledi Çuçi, who said the next discussion will come only after a thorough internal audit within the intelligence service is completed.

According to the version presented by Çuçi in the Security Committee, the President has already convened the National Security Council, where SHISH provided preliminary information on this issue.
He said that meeting assigned the task of carrying out, as quickly as possible, a thorough audit to verify whether there have been consequences for the functioning of the State Intelligence Service. Only after this process, he said, is a broader discussion in the Council expected.
Internal audit for an issue with public weight
One of the points raising questions is the fact that the audit, according to Çuçi, will be carried out by SHISH itself on behalf of the National Security Council. In a case that directly affects the functioning of the intelligence service, it remains to be seen how much real transparency there will be regarding the findings and any possible responsibilities.
Çuçi stressed that the parliamentary Security Committee also has its own oversight instruments, but indicated that at this stage priority will be given to other state institutions and the Prosecution’s investigation.

According to Çuçi, the Prosecution should first be allowed to fully investigate the involvement of the former SHISH director in matters that may be linked to security. He said that afterward, once the situation has been clarified, the Committee may call in the security institutions to report.
This means that, for the moment, Parliament is maintaining a waiting role, while criminal or administrative responsibilities are being pushed into the channels of investigation and institutional audit.
The Democratic Party motion is also expected to enter discussion
Çuçi also commented on the Democratic Party’s initiative for a motion related to this issue. According to him, the request is expected to be reviewed at the Conference of Chairpersons.
The opposition’s move also takes the issue onto the political plane, while official institutions are trying to manage it first through internal procedures and the Prosecution’s investigation.
For now, the only confirmed thing is that the political and institutional discussion over the Vlora Hyseni case has not been closed.
The next step, according to Çuçi’s statement, remains the completion of the audit at SHISH and then the return of the issue to the table of the National Security Council.
