Footage of a 19-year-old with a leg injury, accompanied by police officers near Parliament, prompted an immediate reaction from the leadership structures of the State Police. According to the official version, four police officers and the public order chief at Police Commissariat No. 1 have been suspended, while administrative checks and investigations involving the Prosecution have been opened in parallel.

Five police officers suspended after video of injured 19-year-old near Parliament

The suspension came as the checks had just begun

The State Police said that, after the video was published in the media, it immediately began checks to clarify the circumstances of the case and how the 19-year-old, L. B., was treated by officers near Parliament.

However, before those checks were completed, the General Director of the Police ordered the immediate suspension from duty of four police employees, as well as the public order chief at Police Commissariat No. 1, Sub-Commissioner F. K.

Disciplinary investigation and special analysis group launched

According to the official statement, the Directorate of Professional Standards has opened a disciplinary investigation into the suspended employees.

A special group has also been set up under the direction of that directorate to verify all police actions from the beginning to the end of the gathering, as well as compliance with standard operating procedures.

The Police version is that any employee found to have violated procedures or exceeded their powers will be held accountable.

The Police Oversight Agency and the Prosecution are also involved

Beyond the police’s internal investigation, the Police Oversight Agency and the Prosecution have also become involved in the case.

According to the statement, the Police Oversight Agency, in cooperation with the prosecuting body, has launched an investigation into the case, moving the matter beyond administrative measures and placing it under criminal review as well if violations are found.

Police link the incident to violence at the protest

In the same response, the State Police stressed that the violent acts recorded in the capital, including the damaging, destruction and burning of property, according to the police, are not connected to the peaceful exercise of the right to protest.

The institution called on masked individuals and those committing acts of violence to stop immediately, warning that they would face the law. It also urged citizens, for safety reasons, to distance themselves from violent individuals.

The suspension of the five employees shows that the case has been considered serious enough for immediate measures, although many questions about the manner of intervention and the treatment of the young man still remain without a full public explanation.

For now, what is officially known is that the investigation is proceeding on several fronts at once: within the State Police, by the Police Oversight Agency, and in cooperation with the Prosecution.
