Footage of protesters lying on the ground has sparked public reaction and raised questions about the way police intervened. In response to the debate, Tirana Police issued a clarification rejecting the claim that the individuals were inside police station premises.

The official version after the video was published
According to the police, the individuals shown in the video shared on social media were not in escort rooms or in the security block of police stations.
The official version says they were filmed on the premises of a state institution, in the first moments of the police intervention.
What police claim about the intervention
In its response, the police said the protesters were caught in the act as they were attempting to enter the institution and were attacking police officers.
According to the same clarification, the footage shows the initial phase of what police describe as the “neutralization” of the people involved.
Then, transfer to the police station
Police said that after that moment, the individuals were taken to the police station by police services.
The response came after the video published online raised suspicions that the people lying on the ground were inside police premises.
Questions that remain after the clarification
The police clarification provides only the institutional version of events and is not accompanied by additional details on the specific circumstances of the intervention or the identity of the institution where the incident occurred.
Footage shared publicly has increased interest in how the detention was carried out, while the official response seeks to shift the focus from the police station to the moment of apprehension in the field.
At this stage, the only public statement remains that of Tirana Police, which insists that the individuals were not at the police station at the time they were filmed.
The issue has drawn attention because of the graphic footage and the debate it has opened about the proportionality of police actions during interventions against protesters.
