The toll from the gas cylinder explosion at a home in Markatomaj, Lezhë, has worsened: 40-year-old Saimir Kola, who had been sent to Italy for treatment after suffering serious injuries, has not survived.
Victim died after 12 days of treatment
Saimir Kola was one of six people injured in the explosion that occurred on August 29 at his family home. He had been receiving treatment in Italy for 12 days, but his injuries proved fatal.
The 40-year-old is reported to have suffered burns to around 90% of his body and had been in critical condition from the moment of the incident.
Explosion injured six members of the same family
The incident happened in the village of Markatomaj in Lezhë, where the gas cylinder explosion struck the Kola family home. As a result, six family members were injured.
Because of his serious condition, Saimir Kola was transported to Italy for specialized treatment, while the rest of the injured remained under medical care.
