Another serious case raises questions over the real enforcement of protection orders. In Roskovec, a 52-year-old man has been arrested after, according to the official version, going to his former partner’s home and injuring her 67-year-old father with a sickle.
The incident in Suk, Roskovec
According to police, the incident happened on Sunday evening at around 10:30 p.m. in the village of Suk. The suspect, identified by the initials B. B., is alleged to have clashed with E. G., 67, at the latter’s home.
The official version says the 52-year-old struck the elderly man in the leg with a sickle. The injured man was taken for medical assistance and is out of danger.
Police claim: violation of a protection order
According to police, before the conflict the 52-year-old had gone to the home in violation of a protection order issued by the court for his former cohabiting partner, the daughter of the 67-year-old man.
This detail makes the incident more serious, as it raises serious doubts over the effectiveness of protective measures when they exist only on paper while the escalation happens on the ground.
Arrest after the incident
Police said the suspect was arrested around 30 minutes after the incident, near his home in the village of Mbërsh, Roskovec.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecution Office, which is expected to carry out further investigative actions into the full circumstances of the incident.
So far, authorities have provided only a preliminary version of the incident, and there is no detailed information on how the protection order was administered before the attack.
