A serious incident has shaken Vidhishtë in Roskovec, where a 35-year-old man is suspected of entering the home of his former fiancée’s family, killing her father, injuring her mother and then taking the young woman by force. The case once again raises serious questions about the response of institutions to threats reported earlier.

Serious Crime in Roskovec: Man kills former father-in-law, injures former mother-in-law and takes ex-partner hostage

Attack at the home in the early hours of the morning

According to information published so far, the incident happened at around 05:00 in the village of Vidhishtë in the Municipality of Roskovec. The suspected perpetrator, identified as 35-year-old Nertil Buzi, went to the home of his former fiancée and opened fire on her family members.

As a result of the shooting, 55-year-old Arben Plaka was killed, while his wife was injured. After the attack, the 35-year-old is suspected of taking his former partner by force and leaving the area.

History of threats before the crime

According to preliminary information, the young woman had long been the target of threats from the 35-year-old. She was studying medicine in Tirana and, according to sources cited in the initial reports, the perpetrator had gone there several times to threaten her.

According to the same account, he had previously been escorted and arrested by police over earlier incidents, but the conflict between them had not stopped. This further strengthens suspicions that warning signs existed before the incident escalated into murder and hostage-taking.

Questions over the institutional response

The fact that the conflict is said to have continued even after previous police interventions puts the effectiveness of the measures taken at the center of attention. So far, there has been no full clarification of what protective mechanisms had been activated and why they failed to prevent the fatal escalation.

In such cases, the official version of events is only one part of the picture. Equally important is understanding whether institutions responded in time to complaints and whether the risks to the victims’ lives were genuinely assessed.

What is known so far

At this stage, public information points to an armed attack that left one person dead, one injured and the former fiancée forcibly removed from the scene. Early reports also mention a statement by the suspected perpetrator, who said: “They took my money.”

The full circumstances of the conflict, the exact sequence of the suspect’s movements and the condition of the girl taken by force all remain not yet fully clarified.

The incident in Roskovec brings back into focus not only extreme violence within failed relationships, but also the gaps that often appear between repeated threats and real protection from institutions.

Beyond the crime report, the case remains a severe test of the state response chain when warning signs of danger had been given earlier.
