Prime Minister Edi Rama has warned of the immediate dismissal of Vlora Hyseni from the leadership of SHISH after a house arrest measure was imposed on her. From New York, where he is attending the UN General Assembly, Rama said the new name at the head of the service will be chosen after his return to Tirana and in consultation with the President.
Reaction from New York after the SPAK measure
In the reaction published on X, Rama said he had been informed of the house arrest measure imposed by SPAK on the director of the State Intelligence Service. He presented the matter as part of a process that, according to his version, should be followed through by the justice bodies to the end.
The prime minister called for any suspicion raised by the prosecution to be investigated and clarified through the judicial process, relying on the political line of the majority not to enter into the merits of cases handled by the justice system.
Immediate dismissal and replacement after returning to Tirana
The strongest point of the reaction was the warning of Vlora Hyseni’s immediate removal from the post. Rama declared that, as soon as he returns to Tirana, he will begin consultations with the President of the Republic on the selection of the new head of SHISH.
This means that, despite calls to wait for the court’s final verdict, the government is moving immediately on the administrative and political level to replace the head of the intelligence service.

In the same reaction, the head of government attacked the political and media climate that, according to him, turns every justice measure against a public official into premature lynching. This is a framing the government has often used when investigations affect high levels of the administration or officials close to the majority.
