A serious incident has been reported in Elbasan, where several unidentified individuals are suspected of entering a home dressed as police officers and, at gunpoint, taking mobile phones and cash. The case once again raises questions about security and about how easily the perpetrators, according to Police, were able to move while disguised with elements resembling official uniforms.
The incident in the early hours of the morning
According to the complaint by citizen L. Z., the incident happened at around 04:05 in the “5 Maji” neighborhood. He reported that several unidentified individuals entered his home and, under the threat of a firearm, took 4 mobile phones and an amount of cash.
At this stage, the perpetrators have not been identified and there are no official details on the exact number of people involved or how they entered the home.
Police: the perpetrators fled as soon as officers arrived
According to the official version, Police services immediately went to the scene after receiving the report. At that moment, the suspected individuals fled toward the hilly area, taking advantage of the darkness.
This detail leaves open questions about the response time and about how the perpetrators managed to withdraw without being stopped, although police claim they arrived at the scene.
Two abandoned vehicles and clothing resembling police uniforms
During actions taken after the incident, two vehicles suspected of having been used by the perpetrators were found and seized. Also, according to Police, clothing similar to Police uniforms was seized.
The presence of these garments makes the incident even more sensitive, as the use of symbols resembling state authority can serve to deceive citizens and reduce their reaction in the first moments.
Investigation ongoing, no suspects detained
Police say work is continuing to fully clarify the circumstances and to identify and capture the people involved. So far, there is no information about any people arrested or escorted in connection with this case.
