Tirana is expected to once again be at the center of political and student protest today, as students and the Democratic Party have announced a national rally that begins in front of the Ministry of Education and then moves to the Prime Minister’s Office. The move comes after several days of mobilization in the capital and amid a tense climate between protesters and police.

National protest in Tirana today: students and the Democratic Party from the Education Ministry toward the Prime Minister’s Office

The gathering begins at the Ministry of Education

According to the students’ announcement, the protest will begin at 12:00 in front of the Ministry of Education. The Democratic Party is also expected to stand alongside them, having joined the call for mobilization.

Today’s gathering is presented as a continuation of the protests of recent days in Tirana, where students have articulated political and institutional demands.

At 14:00, march toward the Prime Minister’s Office

Organizers have said the protest will continue at 14:00 in front of the Prime Minister’s Office. This is the moment that shifts the gathering from a sector-specific address, such as the Ministry of Education, toward the center of political decision-making.

There is still no clear announcement on how long the protest will last or how it will be organized through the afternoon.

DP calls supporters, students demand Rama’s resignation

Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha has invited party members, supporters and citizens from across the country to join Saturday’s protest in support of the students.

According to announcements made public by the protesters, the demands also include the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, making the gathering a direct political confrontation and not simply a reaction over university issues.

Lecturers on boycott, tension remains high

Lecturers are also expected to support the students, after boycotting the teaching process for several days. Their involvement expands the protest beyond an isolated student reaction and increases public pressure on the institutions.

Meanwhile, the backdrop remains tense. Previous gatherings have seen incidents and clashes between protesters and police, raising questions over how the authorities will manage the rally.

It remains to be seen how broad today’s mobilization will be and whether the protest will maintain the same intensity after moving in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.

For now, what is known is that the capital is once again entering a day of political tension and open confrontation between the street and the institutions.
