Tirana enters another day of protests today, with students having announced a gathering in front of the Ministry of Education and the Democratic Party calling on its supporters to join the rally. The development comes after several days of tension in the capital, while it remains unclear how the protest will be managed and whether the clashes recorded earlier will be avoided.

Two protests in Tirana: students at the Ministry of Education and the Democratic Party toward the Prime Minister’s Office amid tensions

Students begin rally at the Ministry of Education

According to public announcements made by the organizers, students will gather this Saturday at 12:00 in front of the Ministry of Education.

After that, the protest is expected to continue at 14:00 in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, indicating that the rally is not limited only to demands on education, but is also taking on a direct political dimension.

Democratic Party joins protest, Berisha calls for mobilization

The Democratic Party is also expected to support the student protest. A day earlier, Sali Berisha called on members, supporters, and citizens from across the country to join the national protest in Tirana.

The opposition’s involvement broadens the political weight of the gathering and places the protest on more heated ground, where the line between civic revolt and party political capitalization remains visible.

Lecturers also in support after boycotting classes

According to announcements from the protest, lecturers are also expected to support the students, having boycotted the teaching process for several days.

They have joined the students’ demands, including the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, turning the situation into a crisis that goes beyond the lecture halls.

Uncertainty over duration, precedent of incidents

There is no clear information on how long today’s protest will last and how the movement from the Ministry of Education to the Prime Minister’s Office will unfold.

What is known is that previous gatherings have seen incidents and clashes between protesters and police, making today another test for public order and for how institutions choose to respond to discontent in the streets.

Two gatherings on the same day, with the same starting time and with overlapping objectives, place Tirana before another political and civic test.

Beyond the official calls and party mobilization, attention remains focused on how the protest unfolds on the ground and on the possibility that the tensions of recent days may be repeated.
