The Kosovo Assembly was gripped by strong tensions during an activity with the diaspora, where a verbal clash between Donika Gervalla and PDK lawmakers escalated into a physical incident involving water in the plenary hall.
Clash in the Assembly hall
According to reports from Prishtina, Donika Gervalla, a lawmaker from the Vetevendosje Movement and acting minister, entered the plenary hall to meet members of the diaspora as part of the annual activity organized by the Kosovo Assembly for compatriots.
Inside the hall, she confronted Democratic Party of Kosovo lawmakers Blerta Deliu, Eliza Hoxha and Ganimete Musliu, in a politically charged atmosphere.
Calls for the constitutive session
During the clash, PDK lawmakers asked Gervalla to convene the constitutive session of the Assembly, with repeated calls such as “call the session” and “enough with performances, call the session.”
In the version made public from inside the hall, Gervalla responded by inviting them to a meeting to reach an agreement. “Come to the meeting, why aren’t you coming, why are you afraid,” she is heard saying.
Political accusations and the water incident
The confrontation sharpened further when PDK lawmaker Artan Behrami told Gervalla that she had sent files to the Special Court against the KLA. Gervalla responded with the words: “don’t lie.”
Shortly afterward, the incident took another turn when lawmaker Ganimete Musliu splashed Gervalla with water. After that moment, the debate also shifted to Vetevendosje lawmaker Ardian Gola, toward whom the same demand was repeated by the PDK for the session to be called.
Activity with the diaspora was suspended
The clashes did not remain limited to Gervalla, but continued with Arberie Nagavci, who in the previous legislature led Vetevendosje’s parliamentary group.
As a result of the continued tensions in the plenary hall, the Assembly’s activity with the diaspora was temporarily suspended. The incident once again highlighted the political deadlock and the tense climate accompanying the legislative institution in Kosovo.
Today’s event showed once again that the political confrontation in the Kosovo Assembly is unfolding beyond normal parliamentary debate, spilling over into scenes that paralyze institutional activities.
Instead of functional political communication, the plenary hall turned into an arena of accusations, challenges and incidents that further deepen the crisis of confidence in institutions.
