Official figures show 13 wildfire hotspots across the country, while 10 of them remain active. The most problematic areas remain Lura in Dibër and the Dajti area in Tirana, where the flames have continued for days despite the deployment of forces on the ground and intervention from the air.
Lura, the area hardest hit by the fire
According to official data, the most serious situation is in Lura, where the operation is continuing with 200 municipal personnel, 50 army troops, 15 State Police officers, 18 volunteers, 2 fire engines and 2 Air Tractor aircraft.
The intervention has made it possible to bring the section near homes under control, but the toll so far remains heavy: 300 hectares of forest have burned over four days.
Active hotspot also in Bulqizë-Selishtë
The hotspot at Qafë Helmes, on the Bulqizë-Selishtë road axis, also remains active. According to the authorities, operational forces have managed to control part of it, but the fire has not been fully extinguished.
Dajti under pressure, intervention also in Priskë and Farkë
In Tirana, work is continuing on Mount Dajti with 9 firefighting personnel and 2 helicopters from the Armed Forces. Meanwhile, in the areas of Priskë and Farkë, 30 firefighting personnel with 6 vehicles have been deployed.
Despite this mobilization, the hotspots in these areas continue to remain problematic, again raising questions over the effectiveness of the response on the ground when fires last for several days.
Ministry reports 10 active hotspots nationwide
The Ministry of Defense says that 13 wildfire hotspots are being monitored at the national level, 10 of which are still active. According to the official version, intervention from the ground and air has made it possible to bring the situation in Krujë under control, where work is continuing to isolate and fully extinguish the hotspots.
Active hotspots, but with no immediate danger to inhabited areas, are also reported in Gjirokastër, Lezhë, Elbasan and Shkodër. In Përmet and Qukës, rainfall is helping improve the situation.
The overall picture remains concerning: some of the largest hotspots have continued for days, while the damage to forested areas is already considerable.
Beyond the daily toll reported by institutions, the fires are once again highlighting the vulnerability of forest areas and the heavy dependence on emergency intervention and weather conditions.
