Sali Berisha was met with chants against him in the United States as he arrived at the hall where he held a meeting with Albanians in the diaspora in New Jersey. Footage published online shows that the political tension that follows him in Tirana has not remained confined within the country.

In a video published by a citizen, chants of “Berisha to jail” can be heard, directed at the leader of the Democratic Party as he enters the hall.
In the same scene, a written message can also be seen: “Berisha nburg, Rama nburg, Berisha you are non grata in America,” bringing Albania’s political confrontation into an event with emigrants in the US as well.
The protest did not remain only in Tirana
The episode in New Jersey comes at a time when the protest in front of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tirana against the government and the political class as a whole is continuing.
The rally in the capital has entered its 99th day, reflecting broader dissatisfaction with politics and the way citizens are represented.

According to positions made public by protesters in Tirana, the anger has not been focused only on the government, but also on the opposition and its leading figures.
This detail also makes the reaction against Berisha in the US significant, as the slogan displayed there mentioned Prime Minister Edi Rama at the same time.
The meeting with the diaspora and the political message
During the meeting with Albanians in the diaspora in America, Berisha asked for the support of the United States in his political battle against the government.
In his speech, he described Albania as a “narco-state,” a wording that reinforces the harsh language of the political clash, while outside the hall and at its entrance he faced chants of rejection.
The event in New Jersey shows that Albanian political polarization is also appearing openly at diaspora events.
Beyond party narratives, the footage suggests that distrust toward the political class is being expressed in increasingly direct forms, both in Tirana and outside the country.
